• Winter is the best time to plant fruit-trees. Ask us to prune them at time of purchase if you are not sure. A strong framework for future growth must be created.
  • When preparing the soil for fruit trees, a mix of Groganic soil Improver & cow manure is advisable. Watering in with Plant Starter helps stimulate new root growth, too.
  • If you are pruning established fruit trees, generally prune back about 25%.
  • Kocide is an effective winter spray, especially for stone fruit.
  • It's also a good time to plant citrus trees, even though they are not sold bare-rooted.
  • Plant rhubarb & asparagus crowns. Cow manure is the ideal planting mix.
  • It's time for roses too........ plant bare-rooted roses now.
  • If pruning established roses, cut back about half, prune to an outside bud at 45degrees.
